This is the oldest, and least accurate model of the spire. -----Durst decided to scrap the foam panels known as the radome due to the extremely high cost and danger in replacing the panels after ageing or becoming damaged. The savings are claimed to be 20 million dollars. The underlying structure, seen here will not be modified and will be lit by LEDs at night. I may have used a lightning rod by another user.
