Hefty, beefy, rock solid loft bed. This is not a pie in the sky design; this is the bed I sleep on day-in-day-out. I'm lineman material, 6' 5" and 300 + pounds. I didn't want a cheesy, flimsy, dorm budget bed that had any potential at all of me waking up in a pile of splinters; in fact, it's a tad over-engineered (...a tad! HAAAAAA!). This thing comes apart in seven sections: two pieces of the L-shaped headboards (with doors to hold bedtime reading material out of sight), mattress platform (full size, 54"x 75"), desk top and three upright sections. It's reversible and the headboard section at desk level is sized to hold a computer case. It's designed for eight foot ceilings. Bottom rung of the ladder flips up to store the ladder flush against the side. It resists hurricane winds and tsunami waves.... whatever! You get the picture... it's so massive it scares the bogeyman away! Yeah! Bonus! I'm currently building a second prototype to see how light I can make it without sacrificing strength. I will not let the grandkids on anything unsafe.
