The Perelman Theater and Verizon Hall are the two performance halls and are free-standing buildings inside a larger structure made of steel, brick and glass. Verizon Hall is the home of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Construction for the Kimmel Center began in 1998 and the doors opened December of 2001. Rafael Viñoly Architects PC designed the Kimmel Center.
