KOIN Center is a multi-purpose skyscraper in Portland, Oregon. At a height of 509 feet (155 meters), it is Portland's third tallest building. It was designed by the firm of Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership and opened in 1984. There are three distinct uses for the KOIN Center, all hosted in separate parts of the building. Offices and a movie theater are located on the lower floors, and condominiums occupy the top section of the building. The rest of the space is devoted to the studio, media production, and broadcast facilities for Portland's CBS affiliate KOIN, broadcasting on channel 6. Radio stations also use the building's facilities. The distinctive spire crowning on the building houses the equipment used for broadcasting radio and television signals. Created by: Cameron Malstrom of Portland, Oregon. 2/28/07
