Barbakan krakowski – barbican in Krakow is the most north part of former city fortification. The layout is based on a part of a circle with 25 meters diameter. The walls are in some part more then 3 meters thick. Barbican is build in gothic style and has seven small towers. In the past it was connected with Florianska gate with a long brick neck. Barbican was erected in 1498-1499 as apart of defense system against possible attacks of Tatar horde and at that time was undefeatable.
