Built in 1776 as a farm cottage when Dursley was a cloth-weaving town. It then became a school and has been an inn for about a century. It was originally called 'The Fox and Hounds' pub but changed hands in 1993 and was renamed 'Old Spot Inn' after a breed of Gloucestershire pig. The building has19th C, 20th C and 21st C extensions. A pre-existing rubble stone boundary wall is incorporated into the end of the single storey, flat-roofed, 20th C extension. The rear wing and rear extension are the most recent additions and were built when the pub was renovated in 2007. The building has sash and casement windows; stuccoed brickwork walls; brick chimneys; concrete roofing tiles; and several modern rooflights. Two of the chimneys have Victorian 'crown' chimney pots.
