The three-nave brick hall church of St. Jacobi is an Evangelical Lutheran parish church in the northern part of Lübeck's city center. It was erected around 1300 as successor of a former church and was consecrated in 1334. Both the tower's roof and the ridge turret, first added in 1496, fell prey to fire and storms and were replaced later. The church has always been a seafarer church, and this was underpinned in 2007 when the Pamir chapel was opened. It is a memorial for the sinking of the Pamir and other maritime accidents. However, the church is also famous for its two organs which survived the Second World War without damage - as did the whole church.
