Model created as part of the project of non-profit civic association CIANT (www.ciant.cz). - The Gothic triple-naved Týn basilica, known as the church of Madonna before Týn or also as the church of Our Lady before Týn, is the main church of the Old Town and one of the most important churches in Prague. - Its mostly Baroque interior contains 19 altars made by famous authors such as K. Škréta, J. J. Bendl and F. M. Brokof. Church organ from 1673 is the oldest one in Prague. There are also numerous Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque tombs including the one belonging to Danish astronomer Tycho de Brahe. - The building covers an area of 52x28m, the height of middle nave is 44m and the steeples reach to 80m. - Since the 11th century the area was occupied by a Romanesque church, replaced by an early Gothic one in 1256. Construction of the present basilica began in the third quarter of the 14th century. The influence of the famous royal stonemason works of Matthias of Arras and Petr Parléř is apparent there. - At the beginning of the 15th century the church was almost completed.
In 1457 the building was roofed and the gable of the main nave and the north steeple were completed during the reign of George of Poděbrady. The southern, more robust steeple, was completed around 1511.
After a fire caused by lighting in 1679 the main nave and presbytery were lowered and vaulted with a Baroque brick vault. - The Týn church has been named a national cultural monument since 1962.
