The futuristic Tucker was twenty years ahead of its time. In the late 1940`s Preston Tucker had a dream. He wanted to combine comfort, power, and safety at an affordable price. He added features such as four-wheel independent suspension, rear-mounted Bell helicopter engine, pop-out safety windshield, and an uncrushable passenger compartment. "You`ll Step Into a New Automobile Age When You Drive Your Tucker `48" ...that was Tucker`s ad slogan, and the public dreamed along with him. An incredible 300,000 orders where received. Unfortunately, Tucker ran out of financing and only 51 were ever built... This model was created by Samman for the NFS (Need for Speed) racing game. See: http://www.nfscars.net/file/view/highstakes/1251.aspx The figure is Preston Tucker himself. The KMZ link for Google Earth leads to Tucker's house in Ypsilanti, Michigan where he 'designed' the car. The model is missing the hood ornament, the correct dashboard, and misc details... if you are interested in improving on it or reading more, you can find more in-depth information on the car by visiting the wiki entry below or click on the logo for tuckerclub.org
