Inspired by the Crate (Krate) Chair of Gerrit Rietveld (24 June 1888–25 June 1964, Dutch furniture designer and architect). A tad beefier and more in line with heftier American ergonomic proportions. All can be constructed from scrap standard dimensioned lumber. Measurements on the hidden layer if you're interested. Rietveld apparently designed the original in a smaller version for his children with scrap crating lumber he had on hand during the Depression. Reproductions of the originals are available online (some from Rietveld's descendents, even), but I couldn't see paying a premium for the artsy factor for what is basically 1 x 6's banged together.
