Commode made for Louis XV's mistress, Madame du Barry, in 1774 for her appartment at the Chateau of Versailles. Stamped with the mark of the cabinet maker Martin Carlin, and mounted with Sèvres porcelain placques and gilded bronze mounts. Pieces of furniture mounted with Sèvres were extremely rare and expensive. An exsquisite example of the artistry of 18th French century furniture. __________ Commode fait pour la maîtresse de Louis XV, madame du Barry, en 1774 pour son appartement au château de Versailles. Estampillé de la marque de l'ébéniste Martin Carlin, et monté avec placques porcelaine de Sèvres et monture en bronze doré. Pièces de mobilier, montés avec Sèvres étaient extrêmement rares et coûteux. Un exemple exsquisite de l'art du mobilier français du 18ème siècle.
