I modeled this desk, pulling the initial design from a Bush "you-assemble-it" design, making improvements to suit my needs where necessary.
There are four CD/DVD organizer drawers, two spare hardware organizer trays, and two sliding component trays. There are also two storage cubbies underneath the monitor platform.
Almost every "board" in the model has been grouped so that it can be isolated for measurements and template printing. The desk is built in real-world scale, and the model was designed from the start to be used as a basis for build plans. If anybody ends up building this desk from the model, or a modified version of it, I'd love to see your results! :)
The desk is big, but if you saw the hardware I use on a daily basis on the current desk, you'd understand why I'm building this one. Do it with MDF, and you should be able to build this desk for around $300-$400, including various hardware.
The entire desk is designed to be as modular as possible for easy assembly and teardown. After first assembly, no tools will be required to break it down or to re-assemble it. Additional cabinet modules can be added as needed to the ends, (the component tray cabinet at far left is one such add-on).
