The original of this 18th Century two-drawer lowboy was given to the Rhode Island School of Design in 1904. Made of mahogany, the piece has distinctive serpentine drawer fronts, scalloped side members, and a top that follows the curves of the case. It could easily be used as an end table or a night table. The legs on the original had carving on the knees, a detail that I omitted. I constructed the model from plans in "American Furniture Treasures," by Lester Margon.
