This is a fire alarm pull station made from the mid-late 1970s to the late 1980s. It came in variants, including a "break-glass" model, where a metal "hammer" was meant to be struck upon a sheet of glass before access to the lever could be achieved. The model number for the break-glass version was 4251-30.
