The model depicts Neptune and it's moon Triton. [TRY-tun] is the largest of Neptune's 13 moons, with a diameter of 2,700 kilometers (1,680 miles) and the only one of it's moons large enough to form an almost perfect sphere. It is also the only large satellite in the solar system to circle a planet in a retrograde direction -- in a direction opposite to the rotation of the planet. The various features of the model (Neptune, the Ring system, Triton's orbital path, the Plane of the ecliptic indicator, and the various descriptions can all be toggled on and off via the Layer Manager. The Neptune and Triton globes created using Anim8or and overlaid with orthographic maps from NASA and William Johnson and Steve Albers. The entire model is in a scale of 1/1000 km
