An ancient Roman, bronze and walnut wood bed with head support and a stool for climbing in. The center support panel is caned. Such a bed would have had a stuffed mattress and pillow with fine linens and a fine bedspread and hanging to cover the front side. This bed is designed for one person to sleep or to dine as Romans dined lying on their left side. I could find no measurements for this piece, except a reference to Roman beds being rather tall, so all dimensions are conjectured. Two different photos were used as references for the bed and a third for the stool shape.
