The Wound Medal is issued by the UFS to people who have sustained injuries in the service of the UFS, or who have sustained injuries during a serious attack on UFS territory, property or citizens. The medal is also posthumously awarded to eligible deceased. UFS military members, civilians, and foreign nationals are eligible for this medal. The Wound Medal is only issued once to a recipient, and if the recipient sustains future injuries, he/she will be awarded a certificate for each successive wound. When awarded, recipients receive a certificate, medal, and ribbon bar. The medal consists of a silver piece, inlaid with an enamel blood drop, which is suspended from a ribbon with one vertical gold stripe flanked by two vertical red stripes, which is pinback. The medal is worn on left chest of a dress uniform or formal civilian attire. The ribbon bar is worn only on the left chest of a field uniform. Civilian family members of recipients may wear the medal in honor of their relatives on the right chest. When worn with other medals, the order of precedence is up to the recipient, except when worn with medals of other nations or orginizations, in which case UFS medals would have precedence.
