This medal is awarded to all military members and government employees who have worked for the UFS. The medal may also be awarded to civilians and foreign nationals who commit an extraordinary act of service to the UFS. When awarded, the recipient is given a certificate, medal, and ribbon bar. The medal consists of a silver-colored piece ingraved with the state seal of the UFS, suspended from a tricolor gold, blue, and red ribbon, which is pinback. The medal is worn on the left chest of dress uniforms and formal civilian attire, while the ribbon bar is worn on the left chest of field uniforms. Civilian family members of recipients may wear the medal in honor of their relatives on the right chest of civilian attire. When worn with other medals, the order of precedence is up to the recipient, however, if worn with medals of other nations or organizations, UFS medals have precedence.
