This is a model of the Nekton Pilot Live Aboard SCUBA diving boat. It is designed specifically for SCUBA using the NAVY's SWATH design for extra stability and no seasickness for the guests. The SWATH design incorporates two "pontoon-like" submarines, complete with ballast and rear screws. The water line typically falls somewhere between the top of the pontoons and a halfway up the "legs". Because of this design, the main stabilizers for the boat (the pontoons) can ride beneath the majority of the wave surf, stabilizing the boat significantly.
The Nekton is run in an extremely professional manner, and the crew is nothing short of amazing. Rather than wait to ask what you need, they are constantly anticipating that need and ahead of you at every step. I personally took a Nekton trip out of Puerto Rico out to an island in between PR and the Dominican Republic to a little uninhabited island called, "Mona Island". Between Mona and it's little neighbor Monito Island, the reefs and walls were staggeringly beautiful. Definitely not "beginner" diving (depth and currents to work with) but highly recommended.
