The Rocky Mountain Shrine Consistory is located in downtown Denver, just a few blocks north of the Capital. It was formerly known as the El Jebel Shrine. El Jebel, meaning "the mountain" in Arabic, was founded in 1887 by Mortimer J. Lawrence. In 1888, chapter opened in Denver. In 1906, the Baerrenson sons, Harold, Viggio, Albert, and William, built the shrine. Although, the Baerrenson sons designed and constructed many buildings throughout Denver, the Rocky Mountain Shrine Consistory is one of their most notable works. It is a five-story brick building with terracotta trim, arched windows, exotic onion domes, and a roof balcony. The building became the home of an African American theatre group in 1996. Also located on this block are a parking garage and a Wells Fargo complex. Model by Noel Nemcik.
