Help Group Discussion • Dimetric projection differs from 'Isometric' projection • Many video games historically used dimetric projection, rather than true isometric projection • Vertical viewing angle for dimetric projection is 30° (as opposed to 35.264° for isometric projection) • This can be precisely, and repeatably, produced using SketchUp's 'Align view' provision • This demo model shows how to add a small face to be used exclusively for aligning the view • The small face can be tagged with a dedicated layer name, and hidden after aligning the view to the dimetric projection angles • Before using this method to align the view, turn off 'perspective' view (i.e., use 'parallel' projection) • After aligning the projection angle, you can 'zoom' in/out and 'pan' without affecting the angle (just avoid 'orbit')
