This is a design I came up with (on a spur of the moment thing and off the top of my head so it’s not going to be perfect) but it’s for a simple, cheap and easy to make sheet metal folder. It is not to scale as I have not set any dimensions as it is still in planning. You will notice that it is mostly for maximum (90 degree) folds of thin to mild sheet metal, any further requires folding twice. This folder can be made with 10mm mild steel (my minimum recommendations), hacksaw, hand file, bench grinder (optional but much easier), drill bits, arc welder or (mig if you have access to one) and if you want an angle grinder. IF you have access to a computer guided laser, plasma or cmc cutting machine then I suggest you take a look at this: http://www.woodworkforums.com/f65/making-pan-brake-folder-fingers-home-45792/
Oh and if you want more controll and to make folding quicker, Find 2 kids single speed bicycles and cut off the gear on each bike and weld one just below each of the turning handles, then attatch a bicycle chain to the gears. Then when you turn one handle the other one will turn too, meaning you only have to turn one handle saving you time and makeing the fold more level instead of having to check if the folding fingers are level with the work as you turn.
