The pyramid is situated in the gardens of Hämelschenburg castle (Lower Saxony, Germany) and was created according to the designs by Hanover-based architect Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves in 1855. The sad cause for the construction was the death of the former baron's wife, Frederike von Meding, who came down with tuberculosis and was sent to egypt to recover. However, baroness died on her journey. In remembrance of his wife's final journey, the mourning baron initiated the construction of pyramid in the castle's gardens. It was temporarily used as a mausoleum.
