This model shows a design for a crystal radio. The model also includes schematics, so that you can understand all the parts. These are: a coil, an antenna, a speaker, a diode (in the form of an obsolete cat's whisker detector) and ground. This is the frst generation of radio tehnology, being pioneered by Marconi and his contemporaries. Crystal radios were common between 1890-1920, after which they were replaced by vacuum tube radios.
