When asked about the pattern in her Islands Rug (2005), Angela Adams explains that “Islands is a very natural part of my doodle language. This is a pattern I always notice in Maine, whether in barnacles on a rock, periwinkles in a tidal pool, an aerial view of an island or bubbles in the ice.” These organic shapes are highlighted by Adams’ use of rich color and thick pile, which add depth and texture to the Rug. Hand tufted out of 100% New Zealand wool, the Islands Rug’s 1" pile is soft and inviting. The edging is resolved without having to use a band, and the smooth cotton backing is attached using a natural rubber latex adhesive. This backing will not scratch floors, and a DWR Rug Pad is recommended to keep the Rug from sliding. The Islands Rug is made in India and Adams is a proud member of Rugmark, which ensures that her rugs are manufactured in a socially responsible manner. The global nonprofit organization is fighting to end child labor and improve educational opportunities for children in India, Pakistan and Nepal.
