This statue of King Charles the First, in Trafalgar Square in central London, is one of the oldest bronze sculptures in Britain and is believed to have been carved in 1638 by Hubert Le Sueur. The base was constructed by Sir Christopher Wren, and the stone sculpting by Grinling Gibbons. Of all the sculptures in Trafalgar Square, perhaps the most beautiful but less well known than that of Nelson. A plaque reads "On the site now occupied by the statue of King Charles I was erected the original Queen Eleanor's cross a replica of which stands in front of Charing Cross station. Mileages from London are measured from the site of the original cross". It looks towards Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.__About the model: Now fully photo textured, better than before. Part of 3D Warehouse horse model (claimed by many) used as base, reduced polygon count and heavily modified to match the bronze sculpture as closely as I can. Final edit, hopefully to be accepted to Google Earth
