Dale's Donuts in Compton, Los Angeles is one of the survivors of the Big Donut Drive-In chain, built in the 1950s with enormous steel and gunite donuts on the roof. Recently repainted, Dale's has its name in larger letters than its sisters, though on only one side of the donut, and is no longer a "drive-in", with bollards in front of the windows and a no cars-sign.
