The Chelmsford City sign is located midway down the pedestrianised High Street in the City Centre. The coat of arms of Chelmsford is displayed on top of a column and is framed with decoration. The sign was unveiled by The Mayor of Chelmsford - Councillor C.J. Kingsley on 16th April 1994 and was built to commemorate the completion of the pedestrianised High street.
