Real rock scanned (rock017). Mesh reduced to 252 vertices (500 triangular faces) using MeshLab. The original mesh was not smoothed before reducing so this model has a more angular look than others in this collection. The original rock is a piece of light-coloured granite from the hills around Canberra and is about 100mm long. Model painted with a photo of the surface of a piece of sandstone which has been chipped away with a pick then left in the weather for about 100 years. Model produced by Malcolm Lambert at Intresto. To find other models with sandstone texture search for "SstTex" or to find models with the same texture search for "SydSst04". We are using these models to test our Rocksolver software which solves the jigsaw puzzle of building with irregular-shaped blocks of unprocessed rock. See website link below (or visit my blog: malbertsinvention.wordpress.com) for more information about Rocksolver. Model created by Malcolm Lambert at Intresto.
