Real rock scanned (rock081). We are using these models to test our Rocksolver software which solves the jigsaw puzzle of building with irregular-shaped blocks of unprocessed rock (follow links for more information). Mesh reduced to 252 vertices (500 triangular faces) using MeshLab. The model was derived from a natural rock so its shape will have a natural look when scaled to any size. Model painted with a photo of the surface of a piece of quarried basalt, showing a thin layer of some sort of red mineral. To find other models with basalt texture search for "BasTex" or to find models with the same texture search for "SydBas08". See website link below for more information about Rocksolver. The original rock is a piece of basalt from Bombo south of Sydney and is about 100mm long. Model produced by Malcolm Lambert at Intresto.
