Used for many years to represent the Western Heritage of the Steamboat ski area. It's on land that has been developed for new homes, and the historic preservation of this structure includes a bright new steel roof. On Memorial Day 2010, when these photos were taken, the marmot that lives in the foundation of this barn was on guard, and let me take his photo as well. His grizzled face and gray tipped fur indicate his age, but his whistle is still very sharp, and very loud. - Update to Historical Info:Square notched beetle-killed log walls on a stone foundation with milled lumber gable ends by Chick Yock in 1926, shed roof addition by Cliff Curtis in 1951. (info from Historic Landmark Designation Application by Laureen Schaffer & Arianthe Stettner 1999/2009) Please see Link to Historic Routt County below .. .. .. ALSO here's marmot info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow-bellied_Marmot
