The Devil's Rock is a boulder near Bad Dürkheim. On top of the rock there is a depression that is interpreted as a sacrificial vessel for religious rites of the former, probably Celtic users and from which a blood runnel runs down next to the steps. Moreover there can be seen numerous symbols carved into the rock, such as sun gears, runes and Roman numerals. --- Once, when the monastery Limburg was built on the hill opposite the Devil's Stone, the monks abused the devil as a construction worker. They had deluded him to build an inn and they asked him to lift the huge stone blocks on the construction site. When the building was inaugurated as a basilica, the devil suddenly found out that he had been fooled. Full of wrath, he wanted to take a huge stone and hurl at the new monastery. But God protected the monks, and the stone became soft as butter. Then the devil sat down disappointed on the stone and his butt, his feet and his tail left marks that are still visible to this day ...
