Foundation stone: 22 March 1958, dedication: 16 Sept 1961. Like the Bahá’ì-house of worship in Kampala the design of this temple based on the proportions of Wilmette. But there are great differences in detail. This temple was designed very clear. It took months of trials to develop the special plaster made of quartz. It reflects the sun in a unique way. Therefore the temple came to its nickname: “The Angel of Sydney”. Some of the details - for example the nine little domes and the baluster of the galeries - were made using forms of fibre-glass. The lantern crowning the dome had been fitted using a helicopter. The disastrous forest fires in 1994 stopped directly in front of the temple. Another fire could be extinguished in time. The temple was standing inside a chared place for the next months.
