Geodesic Tent Dome • Patent number: 2,914,074 • Patent title: Geodesic Tent • Inventor: Richard Buckminster Fuller • Patent date: 24 Nov 1959 • Based on truncated icosahedron • 3V (3-frequency; each edge of icosahedron is divided into three) • Only 2 triangle sizes • Tent is tension-suspended from metal-conduit frame • Metal or wood disks distribute load forces to prevent tearing • Tension adjusted with threaded rods through disks (rope or chain could be used instead of rod - chain was used in original Fuller design)
