Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the New Seven Wonders of the world (www.new7wonders.com) stands atop the 2,300-ft Corcovado mountain overlooking Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. It is around 38 meters tall and was the tallest statue of its kind in the world from 1931 until 2010 when it was topped by the Christ the King statue in Poland. It was designed by Brazilian Heitor da Silva Costa and built by French sculptor Paul Landowski. It took five years to construct and was inaugurated on October 12, 1931. God bless you. Deus te abençoe. Dios te bendiga. For a video of the model see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zn5w40Ln9wg Credit to Ricardo Alcantara for palm tree texture. Modelled by Peter Olsen, Brighton-le-Sands, Sydney, Australia.
