The Reconnaissance/Attack Hoverplane 808 was the AgustaWestland response to the procurement of a lightweight attack VTOL plane for advanced reconnaissance and troop support. Powered by 4 Rolls-Royce high bypass afterburned turbofan, it could take off and behave like an helicopter, and with two rear-facing small jet motors it could reach an average operational speed of 500 km/h. The Moongoose could use a great variety of weapons, included Hellfire missiles, guided and dumb rockets ( 70mm and 50mm). The 20mm three-barreled cannon is fitted in a mobile turret and it's driven by the artillery officer in the foward seat. Maximum applicable ceiling: 12000 ft in hovering out of ground effect Average range: 750 miles ( or 2.5 hours ) Average payload: 2500 kg with ferry tanks Average armament: 6x AGM-114 Hellfire missile; 2x AIM-9L Sidewinder AA missiles; 55 70mm FFAR rockets, 1400x 20mm rounds in the internal linkless drum The Moongoose is fitted with an unusual tricycle retractable undercarriage, which allows autonomous taxiing capability. Long range TAT (Target Acquisition and Tracking) version ( RAH-808TAT), equipped with phased array radar and inflight refuelling probe, is also planned. Credits goes to Elvis747 for the seats, METAL for the AA missiles and HustlerJohn for other minor details of instrumentation.
