The trophies presented to each of the different champions at Wimbledon are probably some of the best recognised in the world of sport. Amongst tennis fans, the trophies presented to the Wimbledon Mens singles Champions and Womens single champions each year are a very familiar sight, but even amongst other sports fans, images of one of the many Wimbledon greats holding aloft the winning trophy are common the world over. In addition to the winning a trophy, the Wimbledon Champions each receive a significant amount of prize money. The trophy presented to the mens singles champion has remained the same since 1887 and is a solid silver gilt cup, inscribed with the words 'The All England Lawn Tennis Club Single Handed Champion of the World'.
