The trophy was designed by Helen Robertson and Magnus Finlayson, who entered a competition run by the SPL. The furniture designers’ idea was chosen ahead of 500 other entries and was the unanimous choice of the panel of judges, which included SPL officials, former Celtic player Charlie Nicholas and representatives from the Scottish Football Supporters’ Association. The trophy, one of the biggest in European football, was put together by Glasgow jeweller Robert Horn and is made of solid silver, with a mahogany base. The SPL lettering is around the top and the winners’ names are recorded on a silver band around the base. It cost around £35,000 and weighs over 40 pounds – almost the same as 20 bags of sugar! It is 28 inches (two feet, four inches) tall. The first captain to get his hands on the trophy was Lorenzo Amoruso of Rangers. I couldn't find a great pic of this, so I've done this entirely from scratch :)
