This is the TV Stand/Entertainment Center I've designed for my 47" LG flat screen. There is room to mount the flat screen on a pivoting mount on the backboard, as well as a sound bar underneath the television. The shelves below are wide and deep enough to accomodate 9+ consoles (DVD, Amplifier, X-Box, PlayStation, etc), and the upper shelf is made to house DVD/PS3/360 games. It is mounted on castor wheels, so I can move everything together as a unit from room-to-room without ever having to remove a component. I built this for my living room, and it looks pretty awesome. With the 2x4's running down the middle of the back of the backboard, it's more than strong enough to support the full weight of the television. I drilled holes behind the television and at the back of the shelves to run the cables behind the entertainment center, and I mounted a surge protector across the back wall of the bottom shelf. The excess length in the electrical/HDMI/component cables is tied up and hidden behind the entertainment center, so the look is seamless.
