Normally, "flip back" foot plates have a similar tubing design but their major problem is the whole flipping back part. This is a removable foot plate. There are many reasons, not just the dirty ones, to have this capability. If you can stand, you'll need better footing than what a typical rigid wheelchair offers. Typically, the wall thickness of the tubing on these parts is 0.065 inches. As there will be a lot of torque on this design, particularly by users who still have leg power, going with a thicker wall like 0.125 would be appropriate. It might be overkill so maybe there is an lower number like 0.093. As for the platform itself, it has a thin layer of sneaker padding. I'm not promoting companies here so I won't say who sold it to me that if you contact me, I'll provide that information. Suffice it to say, the complete neglect of any kind of foot padding on wheelchairs is outrageous in my humble opinion.
